Yesterday was my 21st birthday! Unfortunately, I had a Danish quiz (8 pages should not be labeled as a quiz...) and an architecture project presentation, both of which put a HUGE damper on my day (ask me if you must know). Lucky for me, I had great friends around to help lift my spirits and make it a great birthday nonetheless.
Before our Danish quiz, Marcella came into class with this flower candle lit up on a delicious looking brownie.
It gradually opened up. AND THEN FREAKING SPARKS FLEW OUT THE MIDDLE and it started playing happy birthday! It was the coolest candle EVER. The candle wouldn't shut up though and it continuously played the song during our quiz so we had to move it outside of the classroom. And that was the last I saw of it. We suspect another teacher got fed up with the birthday jingle as well and disposed of it. Bitch.
Once it was all open, the candles' flames took its toll on the flower. Hmm, not so pretty anymore.
After my architecture presentation, I bought my first alcoholic beverage of the day: Rose Wine. It's not my first legal alcoholic purchase since I have already been in Europe for a while but I still feel like the first drink you buy on your 21st birthday has some significance. I shared the wine with my dorm friend, Julia, and we had a "hygge" time talking about our day and the upcoming festivities.
We met up with my Cal Poly buddies for dinner. We ate these uber delicious pizza sandwiches.
Michael and Marcella bought me a beer which had a cool design on it.
Later, we went to a club called Rust. There were these twin rappers who were performing live. And they were surprisingly good! Reminded me a little bit of Kid Cudi's music...which is awesome by the way.
It was pretty low key as far as 21st birthdays go. No puking, no blacking out. Just good silly drunk fun with no drama and good friends, just the way I like it.
haha I love the part about the singing candle. Props to Marcella for finding one like it!! xD Glad your birthday was surrounding by good friends. :)
