Culture Night in Copenhagen: October 15

Every year in mid-October, Copenhagen holds a massive event called "Culture Night." Museums, galleries, churches, institutions etc, open their doors to the people for the night. And if you buy a culture pass, you can go into ALL (without it you can only get into some venues) venues, and get free transportation all night.

My friend Julia and I bought ourselves passes and went to a kajillion locations/did a million things. Here were just a few of our stops that I bothered taking pictures of:

Christiansborg Palace

Random ice sculpture displays.

Danish Jewish Museum, which I found out later was designed by Daniel Libeskind. Figures. It sure looks like everything else he designed.

They had a civil war re-enactment happening! Apparently anything goes at Copenhagen culture night. LOL. We saw Confederate flags and lots and lots of cannons...and then bought candy apples from a random booth which were delicious.

Royal Cathedral

We also went on a harbor boat, to a sculpture museum, to Black Diamond, and to the top of Round tower that night. There was also a spontaneous hot dog/ice cream run, a wild goose chase to get to the cemetery (which we never made it to btw), and a hauntingly beautiful stain glass house.

Never again will so many places be open until 12am. Sigh. Thank you Culture Night for a fabulous evening.
